Reynolds poised to lead Iowa

Just two years ago, Iowa was one of only four states that had never sent a woman to Congress.
Republican Joni Ernst broke that political glass ceiling, becoming the first Iowa woman elected to serve in either Congress or the governor’s office. Her election also made her the U.S. Senate’s first female combat veteran.
Now with Gov. Terry Branstad’s appointment to be the next U.S. ambassador to China, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds is set to slide into the governor’s seat.
