Plastipak Packaging is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of plastic rigid containers for the beverage, agricultural, personal, care, automotive, food and consumer cleaning industries. Currently, the company is working on expanding the footprint of its existing warehouse in Ottumwa, Iowa. They want to open a manufacturing facility to service their customer base.
The company is currently expanding the existing warehouse footprint with an additional 140,000 square feet of production space at Ottumwa’s Industrial Park, “The proposed plan is to install two manufacturing lines which provide plastic containers to local customers.” They estimate a total of over $16 million will be invested in Ottumwa with the expansion.
Sharon Stroh, the executive director of Ottumwa Economic Development Corporation (OEDC), said, “Not only will Plastipak retain its current workforce, it will be adding up to 30 new jobs that will offer livable wages and benefits for Ottumwa residents. This is exactly the kind of partner we look for when prospecting on behalf of our community. OEDC wishes to thank Iowa Economic Development Authority for the generous incentive package they approved for Plastipak, and to the City of Ottumwa for its cooperation and tax abatement contribution.”
