On October 6th, the Ottumwa City Council hired their new City Administrator, Andrew Morris. His appointment was unanimously approved, and Morris began his administrative duties in early November.
Andrew Morris grew up in Kansas City, and has a history of working for municipalities. He recently served as the City Manager of Moberly, Missouri, and prior to that, he was the City Administrator of Ottumwa in 2006-2007. Morris holds two Master’s degrees in Business and Public Administration, which makes him perfect for this role, along with the fact that he has had prior experience.
Morris’s duties as City Administrator include supervising the city’s administrative and day-to-day operations, and he is also responsible for implementing the direction set by the City Council. To assist with the recruitment and selection of the new administrator, the City Council also hired the Brimeyer Fursman, an executive search and consulting firm.
