Hardee’s makes its way into Ottumwa
Monday, June 20, 2016
The Hardee’s franchise began after Wilbur Hardee started his first restaurant in Greenville, North Carolina in 1960. Five months later, he had his first franchisee and over the years his burger chain has spread across the Midwestern and southeastern United States. One of the franchise’s most current additions is making its way to Ottumwa, Iowa.
The Ottumwa City Council approved the site development plan in April of 2015 to begin construction of the new Hardee’s. Hardee’s has submitted a civil construction and site plan for building a 2,800-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru window. In addition, the franchise intends to build a functional parking lot with the capacity to handle 65 vehicles.
Councilman, Bob Meyers said, “I’m really glad to have them coming to Ottumwa.” The new addition of Hardee’s will be located near Pizza Ranch on Venture Drive, creating a trifecta of eating establishments. Plus, a Culver’s is being built near this location as well.
