Ottumwa Economic Development Corporation (OEDC) and Alliant Energy are creating a new industrial park geared toward economic growth and job gains in the region.
Helgerson Flats Industrial Center, named for the family offering the land, will provide 64 acres of prime development on the north side of Ottumwa. The site is next to 18 acres of land already owned by OEDC, for a combined 82 contiguous acres. OEDC is working to certify the full site through the State of Iowa’s certified site program.
“We are grateful to the Helgerson family for agreeing to make the land they farm available for business expansion, and to Alliant En-ergy for this unique partnership. This location was identified very early as an ideal location for our interests,” noted Sharon Stroh, executive director of OEDC. “Support from both the landowner and the energy company is key in preparing our community for future development.”
