Professional Developers of Iowa (PDI) recently announced that Ottumwa will host the 2020 fall conference. This statewide event will take place September 23-25, 2020, and will be accomodated at the Bridge View Center.
The bid was submitted by OEDC Director Sharon Stroh, a PDI member herself, and Andy Wartenberg, Director at Greater Ottumwa Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We were able to demonstrate that Ottumwa has the right mix of hospitality, facilities, hotels rooms, and dining experiences that are competitive in the marketplace”, says Wartenberg.
The conference will host 150+ registrants from around the state and includes activities such as a pre-event trap shoot and golf tournament, welcome reception, a wide range of breakout sessions, and of course a visit from the Governor, Lt. Governor, and the Director of Iowa Economic Development Authority.
“The top selling point for the review committee was that this was a broadly-supported proposal on behalf of the whole community. Ottumwa has a plan to seek the support and resources for making this a great 3-day conference for PDI” adds Kristin Dearden, PDI Event Planner.
Southeast Iowa last hosted the fall conference in 2014 at Honey Creek Resort.
The Professional Developers of Iowa (PDI) is a statewide non-profit organization representing more than 320 practicing economic development professionals dedicated to expanding the economy of the State of Iowa.
