OTTUMWA-It is my pleasure to announce that the search committee has hired a new Executive Director for the Greater Ottumwa Convention and Visitors Bureau. A search committee of 8, which consisted of representation from the city, county, hoteliers, BVC Inc board, CVB Board and GOPIP, was put together to review resumes and conduct interviews. We had some very strong candidates, but one candidate really rose to the top. Andrew Wartenberg was offered the position and he has accepted. He will officially start in his new role on May 1st. Andy has worked in the tourism industry for over twenty five years. For the last ten years, Andy worked as Midwest Regional Manager for the US Virgin Islands, promoting and selling the US Virgin Islands in key Midwestern markets. Prior to this position, Andy lived in the US Virgin islands and worked as Regional Marketing Manager for Atlantis Submarines and also conceived and created Caribbean Adventure Tours, an award winning eco-tour company in St. Croix. He received his BA from George Washington University and his MBA from the Wharton School of Business. He is excited to join the Ottumwa community and getting to work to bring visitors to the town. Andy is an avid kayaker, scuba diver and dog lover.
“Andy is the right person to take the CVB to the next level in Ottumwa. He has a lot of energy and great ideas and is ready to hit the ground running.” – Melissa Little, outgoing Executive Director of the Greater Ottumwa CVB.
