OEDC Receives John Deere Foundation Grant
Tuesday, July 10, 2018
In June, OEDC was awarded $59,000 to financially support two OEDC projects: a Target Industry Study and Marketing/Communications Plan for OEDC.
The Target Industry Study is currently being conducted by Ady Advantage, a consulting and site selection firm based in Wisconsin. This is a three-phase process by which Ady undergoes discovery/research on the region's demographics, economics, education, quality of life, infrastructure, housing, transportation, etc.. and provides a multi-page report on the condition and growth prospects of manufacturing, professional, scientific, and technical services currently or potentially doing business in the region. This information is transformed into recommendations, and finally, a marketing strategy is developed for OEDC to use in prospecting industries identified to be the best fit for the area's current assets. Total project cost= $53,000
The Marketing/Communications Plan is in the final stages of development by the Institute for Decision Making at the University of Northern Iowa. In-depth interviews with board members, staff, member/investors, and marketing professionals have helped determined the five areas in which OEDC will conduct its activities for both short and long-range projects, including:
- Site development & preparation
- Targeted industry recruitment
- Existing business retention & expansion
- Navigation assistance for financing business growth
- Talent /workforce strategies
- Total project cost= $19,138
Thanks to John Deere Ottumwa Works and the John Deere Foundation for their continued support of our work in the community.
