OTTUMWA — A local business success story plans to write another chapter that includes the city of its birth.
Community 1st Credit Union has begun construction of a central business office, the C1st Corporate Center, in a rural part of Ottumwa.
Ottumwa Mayor Tom Lazio said he’s grateful to see an investment like this from a hometown company. He knows, he said, they could have chosen to build elsewhere.
“Ottumwa is our home,” said credit union president and CEO Greg Hanshaw.
The credit union started in Ottumwa 80 years ago, he said, with a single location. Community 1st Credit Union now has 230 employees, more than $630 million in assets and serves more than 59,000 members.
