Ottumwa Young Professionals Organization Moves to Chamber of Commerce
Thursday, November 01, 2018
When YPO debuted in 2013, it was an effort spearheaded by OEDC's program director Megan Franke. By all accounts, it was successful in recruiting young business professionals to a new world of networking with peers, socializing and community service. It was a popular organization, and membership flourished.
After a few years, some leadership, and for that matter, some followership changed and YPO took a break in its activities. That's all about to change.
As of October 15, OEDC has officially turned over the treasury and the organizing documents of YPO to the Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce. With new energy and focus, YPO plans to begin actively scheduling meetings and events which more closely align to their age group, and mission to develop as Ottumwa's future leaders.
In fact, it was announced in September that the Iowa Young Professionals Conference will be hosted in Ottumwa in September, 2019. It's expected over 300 people will attend.
OEDC wishes to congratulate Shea Greiner (Chamber) and Bobby Orman (YPO President) for taking this step towards greater participation in the YPO movement!
